Land Acknowledgement: I acknowledge that I always have resided on unceded land. My current town, called Esopus, is named after the Native tribe of Munsee Lenape who were the stewards of the land along the Mahicantuck river before being forced from their home by settler colonialism. I acknowledge the oppression of the Esopus, Munsee Lenape, and all indigenous peoples so that I may unwind myself from the collective American consciousness that inaccurately claims “...this land is my land.”
